Artist in Residence: Emma Box

Hello from Fish and Chips HQ!
As part of the 'Fish and Chips, Twice Please?!' accompanying programme we are focussing on a special feature in the schedule which includes 'New Designer Showcases'. The idea of this element was to highlight the presence of new and emerging designers within current industry so our programme allows for a selection of design graduates and start-up labels to present their work as par
t of a rotating showcase space within the gallery.
We were super excited about our first representative who is also one of our
quartier21 Artists in Residence. Emma Box is a 2010 graduate in BA Fashion Design from UCA Rochester in the UK and only a couple of days before she unveiled her new collection at 'Fish and Chips, Twice Please?!' it was walking down the catwalk at London's prestigious Graduate Fashion Week!
Emma boasts a string of industry work experience from dedicating herself to a series of internships and projects with designers and brands including; Tatty Devine, Emma Bell, ON/OFF, Filaure India and London Fashion Week.
Emma has been working as part of the team since the early days of the project
and has been working from the AiR studio in the MuseumsQuartier Wien as well as using her time spent in Vienna collaborating with photographers and involving herself in side projects. You can check out her collection in the freiraum quartier21 INTERNATIONAL right now!

Greetings from the World of Fish and Chips!
On Monday 21st of June 'Fish and Chips, Twice Please?!' hosted a highly anticipated feature of the accompanying programme, a discussion based on the topic- 'London as a Hub for Fresh Fashion Talent.'
The discussion was chaired by Prof. Alison J Clarke (University of Applied Arts Vienna) and featured Oriole Cullen (Victoria and Albert Museum, London) and
Klaus Muehlbauer (Muehlbauer Headwear and Fashion, Vienna) as participants.
Great discussion covering an array of topics ranging from multi-cultural presence in contemporary industry, to emerging talent and support avenues in both the UK and Austria, to the influence of blogging and online phenomenon. Visitors were offered the opportunity to become involved with the discussion and the event was followed by a lovely dinner in the MuseumsQuartier Wien attended by our wonderful speakers, Fish and Chips Team, quartier21 representatives and current Artist in Residents.
We will be making the full transcript of this programme feature available very soon so watch this space!
