Artist in Residence: Richard Bell
Hello from Fish and Chips HQ!
This month we have had the pleasure of Quartier21 Artist in Residence, Richard Bell, here in the MuseumsQuartier Wien. Throughout July Richard has been working on the development of his most recent project in the AiR studio as well as preparing to showcase his latest piece, 'Bubble Tank', as part of 'Fish and Chips, Twice Please?!' Last week marked the opening of his presentation in our temporary showcase space which introduces new designers, graduates and emerging talent.
Richard Bell is a British designer and recently graduated with a 1st Class Honours in BA (hons) Furniture and Related Product Design, Sheffield Hallam University. Alongside concept development, design and construction of contemporary furniture his work also branches into photography, street art and installation taking influence from commercial product manipulation, glass work, germination processes and mental health issues.
Projects have included commissioned works for ‘Toast’, a conceptual design platform and boutique and a laser cutting collaboration showcased at London Fashion Week and in New York as part of an AIDS awareness presentation.
During his time as AiR Richard was also selected to show items of his work at 'New Designers' at the Business Design Centre earlier this month. He has been working as part of the Fish and Chips team including getting involved with our Kid's workshops and offering his photography skills to various aspects of the project.
Richard's work is currently exhibited as part of 'Fish and Chips, Twice Please?!' in the freiraum quartier21 INTERNATIONAL so pop in and check it out!
